Adolescent Social Networks and Violence in Rural Colombia: IsBaru

This mixed methods research project examined school, community, and dating social networks to understand violence in multiplex social networks of adolescents. It was a community-engaged mixed methods research project in the rural Afro-Colombian community of Santa Ana, Baru, Colombia. This project was a mentored training grant that granted me the opportunity to live for one year on the island of Baru, and have a life-changing engagement with the 1.000 families I was serving through my project.

This was a pre-doctoral fellowship under the Global Health Equity Scholars Consortium| Fogarty Center | National Institutes of Health. The project was done in collaboration with the local public school, a local NGO, Florida International University, and Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).
